A passion for very high mountains...
… that got off to a stuttering start. At the age of 10, David Göttler became paralyzed with fear during a climbing trip with his family. It would take three years before he started to enjoy the mountains again. He's now a high mountain guide and well-known member of the mountaineering community. His passion for the mountains dictates his lifestyle.
His favorite playground is above 8,000 meters of altitude. Although he hasn't yet climbed Everest, he already has 6 of the world's 14 highest peaks in the bag.
In the spring of 2017, he opened a route with Hervé Barmasse on the south face of Shishapangma (8,024 meters).
