To celebrate its 125th birthday, Julbo is bringing back the legendary Vermont
In 2013, Julbo is 125 years old. 125 years of expertise, 125 years of technology, 125 years of passion, 125 years of discovery, 125 years of adventure, 125 years of pleasure to share with you. To celebrate its birthday, Julbo is bringing back its legendary Vermont glacier glasses and offering them for sale on its Facebook page.
When launched in 1950, the Vermont revolutionised mountaineering, allowing climbers to finally reach the peaks with proper eye protection. These «glacier» sunglasses marked the start of climbing’s glory years, as mountaineers set out to conquer the highest peaks in the world. Initially adopted by climbers but then made famous by rock stars such as Sting, they have become collector’s items.
Julbo is now making this «mythical» model available once again! «When you think of glacier glasses, the image of the Vermont comes automatically to mind with its round lenses and leather shields. This model is highly iconic for mountaineering fans, for Julbo - it was one of the first models manufactured by the brand - but also for anyone who appreciates collectible pieces brimming with history», explains CEO Christophe Beaud.
Available in store, it will also be sold as a one-off on Julbo’s Facebook page to mark the event. Part of the profits from sales of the relaunched glasses will go to the organisation «Des Yeux Pour le Monde» (Eyes for the World) which supports humanitarian projects to protect the most vulnerable populations from the damaging effects of the sun.
