Tanguy De Lamotte

/ Sailing

A naval architect, builder and skipper, Tanguy worked with the very best (Ellen MacArthur, Thomas Coville, Bruno Peyron), before designing and building his own Mini 6.50 (6.5 metre monohull), on which he finished 7th in the Mini Transat in 2005. He then changed to a different boat, taking the helm of a Class 40 (40 foot monohull), that he also made with his own hands. After coming third in the Québec-Saint Malo and winning the Class 40 World Championships in 2008, he won the Rolex Fastnet Race and Solidaire du Chocolat in 2009, aboard Initiatives - Novédia. In the 2010 Route du Rhum he came 14th, before pulling out of the 2011 Transat Jacques Vabre because of damage to his boat. In late 2011, he set off on the Vendée Globe and finished 10th.
