Ian Sharman Heads Back to Leadville to Defend His Title
The Leaville Trail 100 kicks off this weekend and Julbo Athlete Ian Sharman heads back to defend his title. "I’ve got one of my two major races this weekend," Sharman says. "I’m the returning two-time champion and also placed third in 2014, so I’m really excited about it, as you’d expect."
Leadville Trail 100 is the largest US 100-miler by entrant numbers. It's an out-and-back race between 9,200ft and 12,600ft and is one of the original trail 100s, which started in the 1980s. It has attracted some of the biggest names in the sport over the years and inspired numerous movies and books centered around the event.
“Leadville’s a very special race to me as I first ran it as part of a larger Series, the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning, which made for the most memorable summer of racing I’ve ever had. I’ll be wearing black Julbo Breeze shades with Zebra photochromic lenses to allow for the changes in light through the day and through the trees. Even when it’s overcast it helps so much to have eye protection against bugs and dirt when running hard on the trails.”
