Finnish Ski Jump and Nordic Combined with Julbo until 2018
Julbo continues to invest in the world of Nordic skiing with one of the most successful nations in the sport
The last Winter Olympics in Sochi were outstanding for Julbo. The image of Martin Fourcade hugging Jean-Guillaume Béatrix on the finish line of the Sprint competition where both men took gold and bronze, was broadcast around the world. The world's leading biathlete would bag two additional medals while Coline Mattel, delighted to win bronze, became the first French woman ski jumper to win an Olympic medal.
«Julbo has been a member of the French Federation's Pool of Nordic ski partners for the last 4 years. We're a company based in Longchaumois, right in the heart of the French Jura, and cross-country skiing is part of our regional heritage. Today, 50% of our revenues are derived from exports and the partnership with the Finnish Ski Association for ski jump and Nordic combined is a logical step for us» explains Lucie Lacroix, Julbo Sponsoring Manager.
Internationally renowned athletes taking part in major research and development work have made Julbo a flagship brand in the world of French Nordic sports. Through this new partnership, Julbo aims to increase its international reputation in Scandinavia, the birthplace of Nordic skiing. For the next four seasons, 76 Finnish ski jump and Nordic combined athletes including juniors, national teams (men and women) but also the «B group» will use Julbo helmets, goggles and sunglasses.
Mikko Saarinen, Marketing Director, explains the reasons behind the partnership: «After the Sochi Olympics, the Finnish Ski Association decided to review the image and strategy of its teams. We’re particularly confident about this agreement. Our partnership with Julbo, a recognised brand partnering many different athletes, is the first step on a shared path to the podiums.»
Finland has had a profound impact on the history of cross-country skiing. In the combined discipline, legends Hannu Manninen (quadruple World Cup winner) and Samppa Lajunen (5 Olympic medals including three titles), and in ski jump Janne Ahonen nicknamed «the Sphinx», were the heroes of their generation, idols of an entire nation. As of now, and for the next four years, history will be written with Julbo.
