Julbo’s athletes take the podiums on the 31st edition of Pierra Menta!

More than 200 teams participated in the competition in Arêches for 4 days of team-competitions on the 31st Pierra Menta. They covered over 80 kilometers, with 10 000 meters of ascensions in four stages!

At the end the Julbo’s athletes took the podium:

Mathéo Jacquemoud won his 2nd Pierra Menta with his teammate Killian Jornet in a time of 10 hours! They won the three first stages and finished 2nd in the last one.

Behind them, William Bon Mardion reached the 2nd place on the box, winning the last important queen stage on the summit of Grand Mont.

On the women’s side, Laetitia Roux won once again in a time of less than 13 hours; almost an hour ahead of the 2nd team.

Katia Tomatis finished 3rd.

Julbo competitors commented their races:

Mathéo Jacquemoud said,

It’s my second victory on the Pierra Menta. It’s amazing to win with Killian, we understand each other and haven’t to speak during the race.

The Pierra Menta was my number one objective of the season, I won! Now what will happen is a bonus. Last year I was sick and hurt, I couldn’t imagine that I will win once again the race.

I’m going on Wednesday to the last World Cup of the season; I hope I will feel as well.”

William Bon Mardion remarked,

My beginning of the season was tough. I am very satisfied to finish 2nd on the Pierra Menta. Today (Saturday) the objective was to catch up with the Italian team. We did it and we won the queen stage, it’s pretty cool!

Now we will focus on the last World Cup stage on Wednesday, I know I can get great outcome and then finish with the Tour de Ruitor in April.
