When did you start your sport? How did you get into it?

My parents introduced me to skiing in Idaho about as soon as I could walk, and as a young person I both cross-country and downhill skied with my family. When I was 8 we started attending the yearly "Western States Festival" which was a weekend of kids' fun races on cross-country skis, and from then on I was hooked on racing for the fun and the competition.

The greatest challenge and gift your sport has provided.

A great challenge has been staying healthy and confident in my speed throughout the racing season. A gift of the sport of skiing has been the fact that even after years of training, I love the opportunity to play outside and stay really active all year round.

Fun fact that most people would never know about you.

Moths are probably my least favorite insects.

Why Julbo? What is most appealing about Julbo as a brand? What excites you about the brand? What separates Julbo from other eyewear companies?

I love that Julbo embraces endurance sports and mountaineering both, with high performance lens technologies. The REACTIV lenses are awesome at adapting to changing cloud cover and sunny conditions. Julbo frame selections are a fun mix of old classics and modern styles. Most especially, the people at Julbo really care about quality, and they support the athlete team well and encourage adventures!

Sweet or salty?

Sweet.

One piece of advice for someone looking to get into the sport competitively, professionally, etc.

Plan to do lots of long distance workouts for cross-country ski training, but make sure the pace is nice and easy for those distance sessions!

When not training or traveling for your sport what do you like to do?

I enjoy baking sourdough bread, playing mandolin, and taking photos.
