Julbo REACTIV Photochromic Technology: Snow Goggle Lens Guide

REACTIV One Lens No Matter the Weather

Julbo has been manufacturing worldclass, highly-technical eyewear for over 130 years—we’re experts when it comes to performance. If you haven’t experienced REACTIV lenses, then you haven’t truly experienced what it means to see clearly no matter the weather. Our REACTIV Photochromic lens technology is the only option available today that flawlessly and seamlessly reacts to UV light instantly, providing an optimized experience so you can see no matter the weather conditions. Learn all about Julbo’s REACTIV Photochromic lens technology below.

What are Photochromic lenses?

Photochromic lenses will automatically lighten or darken depending on the amount of UV light. The more UV light present, the darker the lenses will become, protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays.

THE MAIN ADVANTAGES OF PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES:

// Photochromic lenses will automatically adjust to the amount of UV light present

// Crystal clear visibility no matter the light conditions

// There is no need to change lenses or carry extras—making it far more convenient

// Clear vision in all weather conditions

What is REACTIV technology?

REACTIV Photochromic lenses adjust to changing light conditions and provide clear vision for every situation. With the widest photochromic range and fastest reaction time on the market, REACTIV leads the industry in performance photochromic eyewear.

Manufactured using casting technology, REACTIV photochromic technology is "baked" into the lens so it never wears off, which is why we back REACTIV lenses with lifetime warranty. Each lens takes nearly 20 hours to manufacture. The optical quality of a Julbo lens is nearly as good as glass.

BENEFITS OF REACTIV LENSES

// Widest Photochromic range on the market

// Fastest reaction transition speed, about 20 seconds from it’s lightest setting to it’s darkest

// Non-Temperature sensitive

// REACTIV technology is built into the lens so you can’t scratch it off

// All of our lenses off 100% protection against UV A, B, and C rays

// Made from Trivex making it extremely durable and providing highest optical quality of its kind

REACTIV 1-3 HC

REACTIV HIGH CONTRAST 1-3 (HC) PHOTOCHROMIC LENS

The REACTIV High Contrast 1-3 Lens is a goggle-quiver-killer and is the ideal lens for skiers and snowboarders who are looking for the "do-it-all" lens. With the widest visible light transmission (VLT) range in the line-up, this lens is perfectly suited for those blower days when you can't see past your ski tips and is equally ready for bright, blue-bird days.

The REACTIV High Contrast 1-3 lens has the fastest transition time on the market making it ideal for skiers and snowboarders riding in the open, where sun reflects off the snow, and in the woods, or  where shade provides less light.

The REACTIV High Contrast 1-3 lens provides perfect definition of terrain making it easy to see ice and variable terrain, in both bright and dark settings.

For the skier and snowboarder who is looking to buy one goggle with one lens, the REACTIV High Contrast 1-3 High Contrast is a great choice.

REACTIV 1-3 LA

REACTIV LIGHT AMPLIFIER 1-3 (LA) PHOTOCHROMIC LENS

Similar to the REACTIV High Contrast 1-3 lens, the REACTIV Light Amplifier 1-3 photochromic lens is ideal for skiers and snowboarders who are looking for a one-all-be-all type of lens. The REACTIV Light Amplifier 1-3 is suitable for skiing in both shade and full sunlight.

As the name suggests, the REACTIV Light Amplifier 1-3 will help amplify light in the shade so it is a great option for those who are regularly riding in the woods with ample shade.

If skiing glades top to bottom without skipping a beat is your thing, then the REACTIV Light Amplifier 1-3 is the perfect snow goggles lens for you.

REACTIV 2-3 GC

REACTIV GLARE CONTROL 2-3 PHOTOCHROMIC LENS (PREVIOUSLY ALL AROUND)

The REACTIV Glare Control 2-3 lens is ideal for skiers and snowboarders looking for a highly optimized lens for partly sunny to sunny conditions. The REACTIV Glare Control 2-3 lens provides visual comfort and improved visibility of terrain.

Julbo's glare control technology is semi-polarized, meaning it is only 55% polarized. The benefit to being semi-polarized is that most sunlight glare, but not all, is filtered allowing you to clearly see ice patches and dangerous situations. Glare Control also allows you to see your cell phone screen without it being distorted, so no selfies will be obstructed.

In foggy weather, the  REACTIV Glare Control 2-3 lens diffuses light in clouds for accurate vision. Red tint accentuates contrast making it easier to read terrain so you can focus on skiing the best line in all weather conditions.

REACTIV 2-4 Polarized

REACTIV POLARIZED 2-4 PHOTOCHROMIC LENS (PREVIOUSLY HIGH MOUNTAIN)

The REACTIV Polarized 2-4 lens is ideal for skiers and snowboarders riding in exposed mountains with intense light while maintaining clear vision during low-light conditions. The REACTIV Polarized 2-4 lens provides outstanding protection by blocking out the majority of glare from direct sunlight and sunlight reflecting off snow and ice.

The REACTIV Polarized 2-4 lens also increases contrast by intensifying colors while still filtering glare. As a result, skiers and snowboarders will be able to see variable terrain while protecting your eyes from intense UV rays.

The REACTIV Polarized 2-4 lens is ideal for skiers and snowboarders charging in the high mountains. If dropping in above the tree-line is your thing, then the Polarized 2-4 lens is the ideal ski and snow goggle lens for you.
