When did you start your sport? How did you get into it?
I started as a BMXer and graduated to MTB when I graduated high school.
The greatest challenge and gift your sport has provided.
All the peaks and valleys, they have been high and low. Going to 3 Olympics has been amazing.
Fun fact that most people would never know about you.
I lifted a lot weights in high school and wanted to be a bodybuilder
Why Julbo? What is most appealing about Julbo as a brand? What excites you about the brand? What separates Julbo from other eye-wear companies?
Julbo has been a big supporter of XC mountain bike racing in the USA and I think that's awesome. A lot of other companies decreased their investment in US cycling and I love that Julbo has stepped up in MTB and CX. The glasses work great, look great, and have amazing optics.
Sweet or salty?
Sweet AND Salty.
One piece of advice for someone looking to get into the sport competitively, professionally, etc.
Just jump in and give it a try. The MTB community is very accessible, helpful and inviting. Whether you want to just meet some people to ride with you Tuesday nights or you're looking to do a race like Leadville, there are plenty of awesome people to help you along the way.
When not training or traveling for your sport what do you like to do?
I love to golf. I didn't get into until I was in college but I wish I played as a kid. Turning your focus on and off is very similar to road racing for me. There are times when you are 100% in the moment and other times you're chatting with you playing partner. It's the same in road race, there are times when the race is on and it's 100% focus and other where you're just chatting in the bunch. Being able to flip that switch on and off is pretty cool.
Anything else you’d like to include?
I've been racing bikes for almost 40 years and I couldn't imagine anything I would rather be doing.
