Armel Le Cléac'h
A professional skipper since 1999, Armel proved himself in the Solitaire du Figaro in 2000. He finished second the first time he participated in the race, and left the competition admiring this exceptional performance. "The jackal" was born! He went on to win this major race twice, in 2003 and 2010. In the same boat, he won the Transat AG2R twice, in 2004 with his friend Nicolas Troussel and in 2010 with Fabien Delahaye.
It was in the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe, in a 60-foot Brit Air monohull, that this Finistère man really established a name for himself, coming in second after "the Professor" Michel Desjoyeaux. The Breton skipper then delivered another dazzling performance in the prestigious IMOCA class, finishing second in the 2010 Route du Rhum. After a third place in the 2011 Transat Jacques Vabre, Armel, who now sails under the colors of the Banque Populaire Team, finished second in the 2012 - 2013 Vendée Globe.
