AN INTACT DREAM IN THE HIMALAYAS

AN INTACT DREAM IN THE HIMALAYAS
They set off in mid-September with the ambition of making the first ski descent of Dhaulagiri (8167m - Nepal), but the weather conditions had other plans. Vivian Bruchez, Mathieu Maynadier, Michael Arnold, and Mathéo Jacquemoud had to turn back after reaching Camp 2. At such high altitude, reason must prevail over passion. While they are, of course, a little disappointed, they can take comfort in knowing that their dream of carving turns on the “White Mountain” remains intact…

The Expedition As If You Were There
Acclimatization, gear, extreme cold, weather, route planning—these are just some of the aspects our athletes had to prepare for, anticipate, and then face on-site during their attempt to ascend and ski down Dhaulagiri. We met with them before their departure for Nepal and after their return so they could share the behind-the-scenes of such a project.
