Optimize your safety with twICEme technology
Is it really possible to have smart sports gear? For enhanced protection on the slopes, helmets, goggles and jackets can now incorporate an innovative form of technology known as twICEme.
Like other systems such as MIPS, it gives you additional safety backup on days out in the mountains. Read on to find out how it works, the benefits offered and how to use it.
What is twICEme technology?
To improve the safety of sportspeople, manufacturers are constantly looking for new, smarter solutions. While accidents in the mountains may be inevitable, it’s now possible to make the initial care received faster and more efficient. This is the whole point of twICEme technology.
Its purpose? To allow rescue professionals to access an injured person’s essential information. To make this possible, sports gear (helmet, goggles, jacket, etc.) is fitted with a chip on which data can be recorded. In an emergency situation where an individual loses consciousness, or is unable to make themselves understood, this technology plays a key role. By accessing the information it holds, rescuers can make better treatment decisions and reduce response times.
Event of an accident, data is accessed by placing a phone near the twICEme symbol on the equipment. Connection to a network isn’t necessary: data is transmitted using Near Field Communication only, ensuring that information stays protected. For fast and efficient tment, data is displayed on the screen in order of relevan
How do you record information for rescue professionals?
Equipment incorporating this technology features a triangular symbol and the word “twICEme”. To make your information available, simply download the free app from the App Store or Google Play and enter:
- your medical data (allergies, chronic illness, injuries, pacemaker, medical history, etc.);
- your contact details;
- your emergency contacts;
- your insurance data;
- your personal ID or your passport.
Data is stored locally and is never collected by the app or shared on a cloud system. The user is completely free to decide how much information they upload to the chip. And it can be deleted or changed at any time.
