Roots in the Jura and promising beginnings
Lou Jeanmonnot-Laurent, originally from Pontarlier (Doubs) in the Jura mountains — a region ideal for winter sports and dear to Julbo — started biathlon at a very young age in Mouthe. As a teenager, she learned rifle shooting in a firing range set up in the attic of the town hall. From her earliest years, she showed natural abilities in Nordic skiing and shooting, foundations that would prove decisive.
Rising through the ranks and climbing toward the elite
Lou quickly made a name for herself: from the youngest national and international categories, she collected several medals, including a bronze in the pursuit at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games, then at the 2017 Junior World Championships, an individual world title and a silver medal in the pursuit. She began her transition to the senior circuit through the IBU Cup, and in March 2021 she made her World Cup debut, scoring points in her very first race.
Confirmation, World Cup success and becoming a key contender
The 2022–2023 season marked her confirmation: her first full World Cup season, top-11 overall, her first two individual podiums (in Ruhpolding and Östersund), and relay victories. Lou then reached the very top: the 2023–2024 season established her as one of the stars of world biathlon. She opened the season with a sprint + pursuit double, collected multiple individual victories, claimed a small crystal globe in mass-start, and played an active role in relay titles. In 2025, despite a decisive fall in the final mass-start that cost her the overall crystal globe, she established herself as one of the strongest contenders on the World Cup circuit.
Achievements:
Small crystal globes: Mass start (2024), Individual (2025), Pursuit (2025).
World Championships: 2025 (Lenzerheide): Gold (relay, mixed relay), Bronze (individual).
