Originally from Lus-la-Croix-Haute in the wild mountains of the department of Drôme, Mathéo Jacquemoud has made his stronghold in the Mont Blanc massif where he trains almost every day. His ski mountaineering record is one of the greatest in the sport: a multiple world champion in combined and team events, Mathéo Jacquemoud has also won the Pierra Menta twice, the showcase race for ski mountaineering.
But his talent isn’t limited to competitive events. Trained as a mountain guide, Mathéo Jacquemoud has successfully transferred his experience and extraordinary abilities to high altitudes. For example, he holds the record for the ascent and descent of Mont Blanc on skis in just 5 hours and 6 minutes. Mathéo Jacquemoud also completed a crossing of the Mont Blanc massif (70 km, 7,300 m elevation gain) in less than 24 hours (with Benjamin Védrines).
Mathéo Jacquemoud has also transposed this speed to the Himalayas, setting a breathtaking record on Ama Dablam. Setting out from base camp at 4,600 meters, Mathéo climbed this Nepalese peak, often considered the most beautiful mountain in the world, in just 6 hours, 23 minutes and 24 seconds, including the descent! It took him less than four hours to reach the 6,812 meter summit. In the coming years we’ll no doubt continue to see performances that only Mathéo is capable of imagining and then achieving, preferably at high altitude, such as his recent attempt on Nanga Parbat (8,126 m), a mountain with which he still has some unfinished business.
