30 years of experience in human flight
Fred Fugen is a French professional athlete, specializing in skydiving, wingsuit flying, BASE jumping, speed riding, and human flight. He started skydiving in 1996 and today celebrates 30 years of experience in freefall. With more than 20,000 jumps and over two decades at the highest level, he is among the world’s leading authorities in precision aerial disciplines.
A former member of the French national skydiving team, he dominated international freefly competitions between 2004 and 2009, winning six world titles, including three world championships.
Pioneer of new aerial disciplines
Fred has been practicing BASE jumping and wingsuit flying since the year 2000, at a time when these disciplines were still emerging. As a pioneer of speed riding, he completed his first flight in this discipline as early as February 2001. Some even consider him the inventor of speed riding.
The Soul Flyers adventure
In 2010, with Vince Reffet, he took over the Soul Flyers team, which has become an international reference for innovative aerial projects and world firsts. Since then, Fred has always been part of Soul Flyers, and he is now its leader.
World firsts across the globe
He then dedicated himself to exceptional aerial projects, accomplishing numerous world firsts at iconic sites such as Burj Khalifa, Mont-Blanc, the pyramids of Egypt, the Taj Mahal, and Tokyo.
A specialist in aerial world firsts, Fred Fugen notably made history with a BASE jump followed by entering an airplane in mid-flight, as well as formation flights alongside the Patrouille de France as part of the Jetman project. For 20 years, he shared this quest for flight and innovation with his best friend and teammate Vince Reffet, who passed away in 2020 during Jetman training.
Fred’s approach is based on preparation, risk management, innovation, and teamwork. As an international speaker, he now shares his experience in performance, decision-making under pressure, resilience, and collective trust.
