Julbo reigns
in Sweden

Three Julbo athletes on the podium of the Biathlon World Cup in Östersund! Story of the incredible performances of French athletes on Swedish soil.

Back eight years ago. A young biathlete named Martin Fourcade knocks at our company’s door: “I was the one who approached Julbo and not the other way around. I knew the technical quality of the products and I was interested,” he explains today.

Right after that, Julbo joined the pool of federation partners.

Today, beyond the French Ski Federation, there are 100 Nordic skiers using our products around the world.

100 skiers, as many ambassadors across the globe, allowing us to collect essential feedback in order to offer ever more advanced products.

And this investment was rewarded with a historic moment this week in Östersund, Sweden.

A 20 km race. A single race was enough to mark the history of French biathlon with a podium seized by the Blue Clan. Sorry, a podium seized by the Julbo athletes.

The speaker of the small town of Östersund in Sweden was right when he declared: “The King is Back,” referring to Martin Fourcade’s victory. After a winter where his dominance was questioned, Martin signed a victory that announces a bright season. And behind him? A group of friends with the same smile: Simon Desthieux is second ahead of Quentin Fillon Maillet from Jura. All wearing our glasses.

The unprecedented performance in Östersund was even praised by the entire French sports community on social media.

But the beautiful story on Swedish soil wasn’t over yet.
The day after this huge achievement, Justine Braisaz and Julia Simon reminded everyone that French women also deserve their place among the greats of their sport. Victory for the first lady from Les Saisies while her friend took third place.

For Julbo, of course, the pride is immense.

While winter is just beginning and the biathletes will soon enter the Grand Bornand arena for a new edition that promises to be insane, the Julbo team vibrates to the rhythm of the athletes’ exploits, the brand’s first ambassadors.

This week, Östersund had the feel of a French village.

And at Julbo, based in Longchaumois in the Jura where Nordic skiing has been elevated to the rank of national sport, the pride is immense.

They said:

Justine Braisaz (Winner of the Östersund individual):
“I know how the last seven months went, how much heart and instinct I put into my preparation. I really wanted to enjoy skiing, I had good legs, I knew it from the first splits.”

Martin Fourcade (Winner of the Östersund individual):
“All the planets were aligned for the French team (with the top four places taken by the Blues). Everyone is euphoric. As for me, this victory does me a lot of good. Last winter was so hard. I stayed discreet, but it was very hard to go from seven years of domination to a year without. Today, it’s a huge satisfaction to return to this level and to show it to everyone and to myself.”

Bonus info
The French team athletes monopolized the 20 km in Östersund. Swiss Benjamin Weger (5th) and Norwegian Tarjei Boe (6th) were not far from allowing Julbo to achieve an unprecedented biathlon top 5. And winter is just beginning.
