The Mayor of Stomptown
Often referred to as the Mayor of Stomptown, Åre native Reine Barkered has built one of the most consistent and respected careers in big mountain skiing. He claimed the overall title on the Freeride World Tour in 2012, stood on the podium 20 times over 15 seasons, and won the legendary Xtreme Verbier three times. Along the way he also secured both Scandinavian and Swedish championship titles and was named Big Mountain Skier of the Year by Transition Magazine.
Known for his powerful and precise style, Reine blends experience with creativity in some of the most demanding alpine terrain in the world. After stepping away from the Tour in 2023, he shifted his focus toward exploration, film projects, and long term mountain objectives, continuing to push his limits beyond the competition arena.
Today, Reine travels the globe in search of inspiring lines and authentic mountain experiences, sharing that journey with his wife, fellow professional skier Jackie Paaso, and their sons Tor and Viggo. Whether competing, filming, or exploring, his approach remains the same: commitment, clarity, and respect for the mountains.
